(KGNS) - A federal judge sentenced 40-year-old Christian Estrada, a former Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) trooper, to 10 years in prison for attempting to lure a child for sex.

Estrada pleaded guilty in April.

Prosecutors said Estrada, a Texas DPS trooper at the time, used Reddit, Snapchat and Telegram to communicate with who he believed was a 12-year-old girl about meeting for sex.
