(KGNS) - Some Laredoans traveled to Dallas to represent South Texas at the Republican Party's midterm convention, including the chairman of the Webb County Young Republican Party, who said he hopes to get younger voters involved in politics.

Webb County Young Republican Chairman Jesus Galaviz said he traveled to Dallas to get his peers in Webb County to support the GOP."I feel right now we are in a position where we're seeing Webb County and the GOP grow. And I feel right now there needs to be a bigger youth presence," Galaviz said.

Galaviz said he was not surprised to see Texans in Dallas, but what caught his attention was the turnout from other parts of the country.
