LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - A contractor working for the City of Lubbock Public Works Department will replace a broken water valve at the intersection of 66th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard starting Monday, Aug. 31, 2026. Traffic along MLK Jr. Boulevard from Slaton Highway to 50th Street will be limited to business access only during the repair.

Weather permitting, work is expected to be complete by Friday, Sept. 11, 2026.

The city is encouraging drivers to use caution in work zones and to seek alternate routes.
