AUSTIN, Texas (KBTX) - After more than 42 years, investigators have identified a woman found shot to death in rural Hamilton County as 44-year-old Betty Jo Norris.

Ranchers found her remains on the morning of Sept. 1, 1983, while working cattle along Highway 36.

She had been shot once in the head and left there months earlier.
