NACOGDOCHES, Texas (KTRE) - The Nacogdoches Commissioners Court approved the sale of land to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) along the U.S. Highway 259 corridor.

This section of highway is planned to become a part of the Interstate 69 system to modernize the road and allow for increased travel through the area.

The Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace office is located on the land and and is a part of the purchase."So the project would go out for bidding in 2030... when that construction will actually start, we're not quite sure yet, but it'll probably be sometime in 2030 or 2031 ... we're still in the process of designing the roadway," TxDOT Public Information Officer Tim Monzingo said.
