The San Marcos Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred Monday evening, according to a San Marcos Emergency Services' Facebook post.

Authorities said their investigation began in the 600 block of CM Allen Parkway, located near Interstate 35 North, in San Marcos.

At this time, it's unclear what prompted their response, but police said a person of interest was detained.
