The Fredericksburg High School varsity girls cross country team competed with two varsity teams and a junior varsity squad at the San Antonio Friday Night Lights meet in San Antonio last Friday.

"The history of the San Antonio Friday Night Lights Meet held up to its standard for heat, fast times, and lots of runners once again," FHS Head Coach Dan Aldrich said.

"The meet had nearly 1,500 participants on site and the temperature at race time was 98 degrees with a heat index of 104. Our goal last night was to wrap up our first four-week training phase with a meet that would allow us to set good early season times, but at the same time expose our weaknesses within our team." The varsity girls first team competed in Class 5A and 6A in a 5,000-meter run while a secondary varsity group raced in the two-mile division.
