When their Aug. 27 season openers at Antler Stadium were canceled because of lightning strikes and other severe weather conditions, Tivy sub-varsity football teams were in need of games to fill their schedules and did so Thursday when the junior varsity and freshmen won at different venues on what would normally have been each team's open dates Junior Varsity at Smithson Valley Tivy's junior varsity defeated Smithson Valley's 26-24 on the strength of solid performances in every category, and the win gives the JV Antlers a 2-1 record.

Joel Stoy scored three touchdowns when he ran 13, 5 and 12 yards to the end zone.

Xavier Maldonado had a 3-yard plunge for six points.
