LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - Lufkin shut out New Caney 7-0 on the road last Thursday in a district win.

Senior defensive back Sam Smith had two interceptions in the game, including one at the end of the game while New Caney was driving.

Head coach Carl Abseck said a shutout is an accomplishment because New Caney has a good offense that has scored points in nearly every game this season.
