The initial season of the Marvin Wilson coaching era for the Early Longhorns began in 2025 with an opening victory en route to the program's first district championship since 2007.

The Longhorns are seeking similar results Friday as the Merkel Badgers come to town to open the 2026 campaign.

Kickoff between Early (5-6 in 2025) and Merkel (7-5) is slated for 7:30 p.m. Friday at Longhorn Stadium.
