(KGNS) - The Laredo City Council met in a special noon session Monday, Sept. 14, to advance its new budget and address infrastructure repairs.

Council members moved forward a proposed property tax rate of just over 50 cents per $100 of value, keeping rates in the middle of proposed caps ahead of a final vote next week.

Mayor Victor Trevino called for a new city utilities app to provide real-time phone alerts for water outages.
