HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Election Day is less than a month away, and if you live in the City of Houston, you'll be asked to decide how the Houston Police Department treats misdemeanor marijuana possession.

A nonprofit called Ground Game Texas has gathered about 40,000 signatures to put Proposition A on the ballot in Houston.

If passed, the proposition would make misdemeanor marijuana possession HPD's "lowest law-enforcement priority." About one in five Americans used marijuana at least once in 2021, according to the CDC.
