MIDLAND, Texas (KOSA) - Midland County has accepted a $1. 3 million dollar grant to create a Border Prosecution Unit to fight oilfield theft and gang-related crime.

According to the county the grant will fund four prosecutors, two investigators and one administrative position, along with the equipment needed to support the unit at no cost to local tax payers.

This grant gives us the ability to add prosecutors and investigators without placing the financial burden on Midland County, These resources will strengthen our ability to pursue serious gang-related and oilfield theft, support law enforcement investigations, and serve not only Midland County, but our regional partners as well District Attorney Glenn Harwood Any extra personnel will help the District Attorney's Office with cases through the Texas Anti-Gang Center while also giving support to the rest of the region.
