Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones joined the KSAT Q&A on Tuesday to discuss multiple topics, including why she voted against the city budget approved last week and a letter she sent to the governor this week about the state's Medicaid application backlog.

The budget takes effect Oct. 1 and includes a property tax increase, the first in more than three decades.

Jones said raising property taxes was her "last resort" and that she identified about $18 million that could be reduced from the general fund.
