CONROE, Texas (KBTX) - A man in his 70s died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound outside the Lee G. Alworth Building early Friday morning, authorities said.

The incident occurred around 6 a.m. outside the building, where the man was scheduled to appear in court for sentencing later in the day, according to the Conroe Police Department.

Police secured the scene and confirmed there is no threat to the public.
