With a 4-3 vote, the New Braunfels City Council approved the second and final reading amending Chapter 130, Article IV, Divisions 3, 5 and 6 of the city's code of ordinances related to New Braunfels Utility's drought contingency plan on Aug. 24.

Mayor Michael French and Councilmembers Toni Carter and Nikki Shaw voted in opposition.

The approval gave NBU the green light to implement amended drought trigger levels and events, surcharges and customer response.
