LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) - A building that once housed the only motel available to African Americans in Longview during segregation is being preserved after a city court order had called for its demolition.

The historic White's Motel, off South Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard, previously had crumbling walls and a collapsing roof.

Owner Audrey White said the property was once considered among the best in the region."It was the nicest place in maybe a 150-200 mile radius," White said.
